Joseph Masco
Space, Power, and Fear in Modern America
A symposium with Bruce d'Arcus (Geography, Miami of Ohio) and Joseph Masco (Anthropology, University of Chicago). Professor d'Arcus will speak on "Sovereignity, Law and the Spatial Architecture of Rights," while Professor Masco's talk, "The American Enemy," examines the constitution of a specific idea of the enemy in U.S. national culture, a form that defines each "age" of insecurity (Red Scare, Cold War, War on Terror).
