The Provost’s Office provides academic leadership to the University in its core work of scholarship, teaching, and learning. Our work is aligned with Chancellor Santiago’s two critical goals of raising UWM’s stature as a research university and ensuring that UWM fulfills its commitment to student access, success, and diversity.

Provost’s Office staff members are focused on

• Implementing Access to Success, UWM’s comprehensive enrollment management recruitment and retention initiative;
• Building on excellence in our graduate and undergraduate program array and fostering the development of new programs and online offerings;
• Promoting growth in scholarship across the university through scrupulous attention to best practice in faculty/staff recruitment, promotion, retention, and tenure processes;
• Enhancing diversity in students, staff, and faculty;
• Ensuring that the university’s infrastructure for research, teaching, and learning (i.e., UWM Libraries, UITS, CIPD) meets campus needs and that budget, personnel, and space management are similarly aligned with our mission;
• Assessing institutional progress in meeting our goals; and
• Supporting community partnerships through The Milwaukee Idea.

The Division of Academic Affairs is comprised of ten degree-granting schools and colleges, the Graduate School, and the School of Continuing Education, as well as the Academic Opportunity Center; Assessment and Institutional Research; the Center for International Education; the Center for Instructional and Professional Development; Employee Development; Enrollment Services; Equity/Diversity Services; Financial Aid; First-Year Center; Human Resources; the Learning Technology Center; Multicultural Student Center; Recruitment and Outreach; the Roberto Hernandez Center; the Student Accessibility Center, the Student Support Services Program; TRIO and Pre-College Programs; University Information Technology Services, and the UWM Libraries.
