Merlot: Call for proposals

The MERLOT Conference Committee invites you to attend the ninth Annual MERLOT International Conference (MIC09) to be held in San Jose, August 13-16, 2009. The MIC09 conference theme is Teaching and Learning in a Networked World. The MERLOT International Conference is designed to foster learning, innovation and practice in the use of information, instruction, and communications technologies in higher education. It is a venue for educators, administrators, and technologists who have interests and expertise in technology-enabled teaching and learning and who recognize the need to remain current in this rapidly advancing field of educational practice and theory. Participants in this conference represent a wide variety of disciplines; presentations are designed to meet the needs of the novice to experienced educator.

Conference Registration: Reading Between the Lives

Dear UW-System Colleagues: OPID is sponsoring a free, one-day conference: Reading Between the Lives: Enhancing Students Engagement with Reading. The goal of this conference is to bring together UW-System educators from across the disciplines to talk, think, and strategize about our students and their challenges with reading. The conference will occur on Thursday, March 5, 2009, at The Pyle Center in Madison. Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Corey Anton, Associate Professor in Communication at Grand Valley State University. Dr. Anton is the author of Selfhood and Authenticity, winner of the Erving Goffman Award for Outstanding Scholarship in the Ecology of Social Interaction, presented by the Media Ecology Association.
