About the Project

The Common Core Leadership in Mathematics (CCLM) project develops school and district teacher leaders to support the transition to the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics. It is a collaborative effort of the Milwaukee Public Schools, Wauwatosa School District, School District of South Milwaukee, Mequon-Thiensville School District, and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

The aim of CCLM is to build the capacity of schools and districts for transitioning curricular programs, classroom instruction, and student learning expectations to be in alignment with the Wisconsin Common Core Standards in Mathematics. The long-term outcome of this project is improved student learning in mathematics in relation to this common set of shared learning expectations.

The specific goals are to:
(1) Unpack the mathematics of the Wisconsin Common Core Standards, with emphasis on the standards for mathematical practices and content standard progressions.
(2) Teach mathematics aligned to the Wisconsin Common Core Standards (e.g., align curricula, student learning goals, instruction, assessment, and interventions).
(3) Develop leadership and presentation skills for supporting colleagues’ transition in mathematics to the Common Core.
