Collaborative Projects In 2005-2006 and again in 2010-2011, The Mathematics Fellowship for Middle Grade Teachers project, was a collaborative effort of the Milwaukee Public Schools and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The "Math Fellows" program was targeted to teachers in grades 5-8 who wished to improve their understanding of key topics in mathematics by enrolling in courses specially geared for them through the UWM. Completion of the program resulted in a certificate of recognition from MPS and qualifed the teachers to have a "mathematics minor" notation added to their University transcript. Funding for this project was provided by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, Mathematics and Science Partnership Program, ESEA Title II Part B, with additional support provided by the Milwaukee Mathematics Partnership. Occurring in 2007 and 2008, the "Developing Geometric Knowledge for Teaching" project was founded to support elementary and middle school (K-8) teachers in studying the big ideas of geometry aligned to the Wisconsin Assessment Framework. Funding for this project was provided by the Wisconsin Improving Teacher Quality Program, with additional support provided by the Milwaukee Mathematics Partnership, MPS and UWM. The "Alliance for Teaching Mathematics to Special Education Learners", or Math Alliance Project, aims to strengthen the content knowledge and collaboration of special education and regular education teachers of mathematics in grades 4-9. This project runs from 2010 to 2012. Funding for this project is provided by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, Mathematics and Science Partnership Program, ESEA Title II Part B.
