  Youth Development Certificate Program  
This is a 40-hour program for those who work with youth in residential, treatment and out-of-home care-settings. This class blends theory and best practice while addressing the skills, approaches, and relationships for working with children and youth. The emphasis is on working with At- Risk youth from an interactive, developmental perspective. The curriculum presents fundamental concepts, practices, and competencies in child and youth care as practiced with youth who face special risks and challenges. Topics include:

· Developmental Care
· Creating a therapeutic Milieu
· Human Sexuality
· Teamwork
· Working with Groups
· Crisis Intervention
· Family Relationships &
Separation
· Suicide Prevention
· Sensitivity to Racial and
Cultural Differences
