| This workshop is designed to enhance the foundation for strong supervisory skills. Material covers the responsibilities of supervisors and the skills needed to be effective in meeting these responsibilities. Discussion will include 'best practice' communication styles, motivation techniques, overview of the constraints of law, hiring practices, evaluations and moving your group to a team. Being an effective supervisor is demanding work. It requires walking a line between being a director and a comrade, between pleasing higher management and meeting the resource needs of your direct reports, and often moving from being technically competent to relying heavily on skills in human relations, delegation and directing the efforts of others.
