The workshop series begins with an introduction to the Praxis I and II exams, which includes a review of successful test taking strategies coupled with a pre-assessment exam that identifies areas of strength and weakness in specific content areas. This introductory session is followed by separate content area workshops: reading, writing and mathematics for Praxis I; and literature, mathematics, science and social studies/history for Praxis II. Each workshop is facilitated by an experienced teacher who has passed both exams and is particularly skillful in guiding class participants in designing their own individualized test preparation strategy. In addition, participants in the content area workshops can enroll in a series of one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions with experienced instructors that will address areas identified in the pre-assessment exam taken during the introductory session.
The Praxis workshops and tutoring sessions are offered at convenient times and locations for the busy adult learner. Further, the program series is attuned to the social, cultural and linguistic background of the program participants. This holistic approach builds on the personal strengths of each participant and has a proven track record of helping individuals prepare successfully for the Praxis exams.
