| Julie's career began with teaching French and English at Lycée Marie Curie, an Engineering and Science high school, in Creil, France, followed by a position teaching English at the Anglo American Centre in Cagliari, Sardinia. Upon her return from working and living abroad, she taught French for one semester at Marquette High School before taking a full-time position in the West Allis West Milwaukee School District teaching French and ESL. In addition to teaching with the West Allis school district, she also taught part-time ESL and Spanish GED at Milwaukee Area Technical College and Waukesha County Technical College. In 2000, she began teaching ESL and English Composition at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee full-time during which she expanded her business, LINGUA FRANCA, a language consulting and translation firm. In 2004, she took a position with the Social Development Commission, a large non-profit agency in Milwaukee, where she was the Education and Training Manager in charge of programming for Adult Basic Education students working towards their GED, literacy, and skills enhancement. In December, 2006, Julie began working at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Continuing Education as the Program Director of Languages and Intercultural Relations. Julie oversees personal enrichment programs offered in more than twenty different languages to the public during four sessions throughout the year. Another component of her job is organizing and leading language immersion trips several times a year. She also develops customized training in languages and intercultural relations for private companies and non-profit agencies. Julie is excited to be working on several new program areas this year: Spanish Certificate Program Online and an English Language Learning Certificate. She is fluent in French, Spanish and Italian and is currently learning Chinese. Julie is a UW-Milwaukee alumna B.A. French Latin English as a Second Language Post-Bac Degree in Spanish M.A. in English with focus on Second Language Acquisition and TESOL
