"Good Vibrations: The Science of Music," with Chuck Wimpee.
Fridays at 8 p.m. and Sunday Nov.15 at 2 p.m.
All musical instruments create sound in the same way. It's all about the frequency of vibration – a vibrating string, reed or column of air.
So why does an 'A' note on a violin sound so different from the same note played on a flute, piano, or tuba?
This interactive presentation will explore the physical principles governing the sounds that make up music.
The UWM Science Bag has been making exciting science for 37 years. This unique science demonstration series educates as it entertains. Topics change monthly and run through April (except in December). The free, one-hour shows are on Friday nights and one Sunday afternoon each month.
Science Bags are held in the UWM Physics Building, Room 137, on the corner of E. Kenwood Blvd. and N. Cramer St.
