W. Swimming. Panthers Top Crusaders In Home Opener To Extend Long Win Streak
Senior Kerry Rossow, juniors Danielle Wenger and Kelsey George and sophomore Danielle Chapman each won a pair of events to lead the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's swimming & diving team to a lopsided 201-72 victory over Valparaiso University Saturday morning at the Klotsche Natatorium. The Panthers, who were swimming in their home opener, have now beaten the Crusaders 15 consecutive times and improved to 15-1 all-time in the series (falling only in 1991). The team won 14 of 15 events on the day, falling only in the 100 butterfly.

M. Swimming. UWM Men Improve To 16-0 All-Time Against Valparaiso
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's swimming & diving team won all 15 events on its way to a commanding 200-57 victory over Valparaiso University Saturday at the Klotsche Natatorium. Sophomore Jake Koll and freshmen Nathan Welchlin and Mike Schalla each won two events to lead the way as the Panthers won their home opener and improved to 16-0 all-time against the Crusaders with the victory. In addition to the three already mentioned, Milwaukee also received individual victories from senior Jeremy Waldhart, sophomores Jordan Diel, Evan Green, Brady Huemann and Sam Keele and freshmen Cris Smith, Zachary Kraai and Justin Hastings.

W. Volleyball. Panthers Ride Stellar Defense To Semifinal Sweep Of Valpo
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee collected 17 blocks and made a stirring third-set comeback to claim a 25-14, 26-24, 25-23 win over Valparaiso Saturday afternoon in the semifinals of the Horizon League Volleyball Championships at Woodling Gymnasium. The third-seeded Panthers (15-14) have now won 10 matches in a row and will face top-seeded Cleveland State in Sunday's championship. After winning the first two sets, UWM trailed 19-10 in the third frame. But the Panthers scored 12 points in a row to turn things around before wrapping things up on a kill by Kerri Schuh. Schuh and Jena Berg each had nine kills apiece to lead Milwaukee, which was sparked throughout by its great defense.

M. Basketball. Milwaukee Holds Off Second-Half Hillsdale Charge
James Eayrs scored 21 points and Ricky Franklin had 12 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists to help the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's basketball team hold off Hillsdale, 62-54, Saturday afternoon at the U.S. Cellular Arena. After the Chargers (0-3) had cut a 14-point halftime deficit to one, Eayrs took over, scoring seven straight points to give the Panthers (2-2) control of the game. Eayrs three with just over 12 minutes remaining capped seven-straight points and made it 44-36 Milwaukee on the scoreboard.

W. Volleyball. Panthers Escape Phoenix To Advance In League Tournament
Jena Berg had 21 kills to lead five players in double figures as the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee rallied for a 25-16, 15-25, 15-25, 28-26, 15-10 win over the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Friday night in the quarterfinals of the Horizon League Volleyball Tournament at Woodling Gymnasium. The third-seeded Panthers (14-14) will face second-seeded Valparaiso Saturday at 3:30 p.m. EST/2:30 p.m. CST in the semifinals. UWM had to fight off a pair of match-points in the fourth set before pulling away in the fifth frame to claim the win. The Panthers also had to overcome a stellar offensive effort by the Phoenix (10-20), which hit .282 in the match.
