Campus Safety Task Force public hearing March 5
by: Brad Stratton
The UW-Milwaukee Campus Safety Task Force will host a public hearing at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, at the new RiverView Residence Hall, 2340 N. Commerce St. (just west of the Milwaukee River along North Avenue).
“Our task force looks forward to receiving additional input from the campus community on how university neighborhood safety can be improved,” said task force chair Stan Stojkovic, dean of the UWM Helen Bader School of Social Welfare. “Based on community input and task force deliberations, the task force will be providing UWM Chancellor Carlos E. Santiago with its report and recommendations in early spring.”
The task force—which consists of criminal justice professionals and lay persons who represent the diversity of the campus and local community and has met four times since being formed in November—has reviewed the UWM Safe Campus Committee Report along with other campus safety measures.
The March 5 meeting will take place in the cafeteria of the new residence hall. Attendees are encouraged to park along Commerce Street, south of North Avenue.
Questions, concerns or special needs relating to the public hearing should be directed to Tom Luljak, 414-229-5024, or tluljak@uwm.edu.
