Morning Session 9am - 12pm:
Sessions on:
- Implementing the Association of American Colleges and Universities
(AAC&U) LEAP Essential Learning Outcomes into the curricular and
co-curricular undergraduate experience.
- Faculty and staff who are starting to incorporate ELOs in their
classes and programs will share their work and plans, followed
by participants' discussion.
- Establishing course-based learning communities for all students
in their first year at UWM.
- Faculty and staff now leading freshman transition courses, freshman
seminars, living/learning communities and learning community course
sections will share their work and discuss options for participants.
12 pm - 1pm: Lunch for participants attending
both morning and afternoon sessions
Afternoon Session 1 pm - 4:30pm:
Chancellor Santiago will moderate a student panel followed by discussion
sections on the following topics:
- Enhancing enrollment and success of transfer/adult/veteran students
- Recruiting and retaining high achieving students
- Helping students find and stay on pathways to success
- Helping students afford and finance college
- Improving campus and neighborhood security
- Increasing availability of classes and decreasing time to degree;
and
- Enhancing a supportive campus climate.
Launching of the UWM Commission on Student Life and Learning that
will launch its activities with this February 12 conference. The
Commission is charged to identify strategies to accelerate UWM's
improvement in student life and learning and to suggest options
for resourcing action strategies.
A closing reception with a poster session will end the day.
