Call
for Campus Input on Self-Study Draft
Every ten years, the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee
completes an accreditation Self-Study process, following
the quality criteria adopted by its accrediting agency,
the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association
(NCA). UWM’s accreditation Self-Study will introduce
the University to the team of visitors who will visit
the campus for a site visit on April 25-27, 2005.
As the site visitors’ first encounter with UWM,
the Self-Study must present an authentic, illuminating
portrait of the University, one that will help the NCA
team understand UWM and its context. If that goal is met,
the Self-Study will be of long-term use to the University,
not only in meeting the requirements for accreditation,
but also helping to guide UWM’s future direction.
The Self-Study process has been designed to be as inclusive
as possible: the preparation of this comment draft involved
100 team members drawn from across the campus, who collected
data from every department, administrative unit, school
and college. To make the Self-Study as accurate to UWM
as possible, we also need your comments on this draft.
As you read, please assess the document for clarity, use
of supporting evidence, and breadth of perspective—does
the Self-Study draft present the University you know?
Comments can be sent to Associate Vice Chancellor Rita
Cheng, at rcheng@uwm.edu.
