Planning Working Group

Discussions to date

  • Past planning history
  • Need to discuss planning with adminstrative and governance groups (University Committee, Academic Staff Committee, Academic Planning and Budget Committee)
  • Linkage between strategic plans and operational/budget plans
  • How to address the component question about the alignment of planning with mission
  • Need to pull apart mission, strategic plans, and operational levels
    • Planning level is the pivot point
    • Governance role in planning process
    • What should be the accountability of units to achieve planning goals to both administrative (Provost) and governance bodies (faculty, staff)?
    • Accountability to UW-System, Regents, state government
    • Relations with community partners in planning; accountability to them
  • Responsibilities within current governance rules and campus culture
  • Initial ideas on areas of potential recommendations
  • Consideration of lines of evidence
    • Can address most of the lines of evidence at the campus-level
    • School/college will require some additional data (add to data request)
    • We will need examples to use in narrative.
