Opening comments:
Charles Schuster and Margo Anderson met on September 21, regarding looking at the system documents and materials

Under Criterion 3, it would be good for us to understand the process. The guidelines are fairly new, probably since March

Presented 3-4 new issues: Occupational Therapy, Geography, Therapy, and Info Studies. Are they just degree programs?

Two main changes:
1. Have units tell if it is value, program outcomes, graduate expectations, and/or employment.

2. In this review, group should be willing to step back and assess the issues. Timelines of closure should be by the end of the semester.

We will be spending this semester looking at GER documents. Issues associated with GERs. Cultural Diversity and GERs. Determine a taskforce of specific documents and requirements.

Reviewed system requirements will be submitted with NCA visits. Parallel is the notion of assessment. We need a taskforce that links assessment forces.

There are eight GER requirements. The NCA documents say to expose the students to these requirements, but the goals can always be changed.

One could possibly question the objectives of NCA. Do they meet the universities today? Are we evaluating the assessments of GER or are we evaluating the subcategories of the assessment? Do the GER’s affect the students when they graduate?
GER’s are supposed to build on the students’ major course of study.

Problem: Not all GER classes are taught by faculty.
