Assistant to the Provost for Budget & Planning Announcement

Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that Ed Rodriguez will be joining my staff as the Assistant to the Provost for Budget and Planning, starting July 15th.

As Assistant to the Provost for Budget and Planning, Ed Rodriguez will be the lead budget and financial officer in Academic Affairs, preparing budget and financial analyses and making recommendations to me and my staff concerning Academic Affairs budget requests, resource allocations, and financial strategies to enable UWM to meet its strategic goals. He will work in close collaboration with Administrative Affairs' Office of Business and Financial Services and with Deans, Directors and Unit Business Representatives of units reporting to Academic Affairs to better manage fiscal resources, and he will serve as the Unit Business Representative for the Divisions of Academic Affairs and General Education Administration.

Ed brings a wealth of experience to this position, having served as UBR and PREP for the College of Nursing, the School of Information Studies, and the Peck School of the Arts and as a Budget Analyst in Resource Analysis. Prior to coming to UWM, Ed was a senior business manager and the assistant director of federal programs at Purdue University. His high level of budgeting and planning acumen in academic units, the wide scope of his understanding of university operations, and his success in supporting research growth will all serve UWM as he assumes his new responsibilities.

I would like to thank the Search Committee for producing a notably strong pool of candidates. I would also like to thank all of the members of the campus community who participated in the interview process and provided their input.

Sincerely,
Rita
