News & Events UWM names Wade Hobgood as Dean of the Peck School of the Arts Colleagues, I am very pleased to announce that Dr. Wade Hobgood has accepted the position of Dean for the Peck School of the Arts, effective July 1, 2008. Wade Hobgood comes to us from the University of North Carolina in Asheville where he currently is Professor of Mass Communications. He previously served as Chancellor at North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem and as dean at the College of the Arts at California State University - Long Beach and College of Fine Arts at Stephen F. Austin University. His professional background in the Arts includes photography, graphic design, illustration, art appreciation, and film/video. He has extensive experience in fund raising and has developed many successful partnerships with donors, business sponsors and potential supporters. Wade has also served as a consultant with international, national and regional arts clients and several universities, helping them develop new curriculum, policies and/or procedures. Wade has experience that perfectly matches the needs of UWM’s Peck School of the Arts. I know that he will add great value to UWM and I look forward to working with him and the entire campus community as we continue to meet our goals of growing our research and scholarly activity and providing access and success to all of our students. Selected from a strong pool of candidates, Wade garnered broad support among the groups who were involved in the dean search. I am very enthusiastic that he’ll be coming to Milwaukee. I also wish to extend a sincere thank you to Scott Emmons, Associate Dean of the School, for serving as interim dean this past year.
