News & Events School of Continuing Education Announcement Colleagues, Thank you for the input received regarding the School of Continuing Education dean search. After careful consideration and consultation with the School’s faculty and staff, I have decided to postpone the search. I would like to express my gratitude to Mark Krueger, who has led the School so well during his tenure as Interim Dean and wish him well as he transitions back to a faculty role, adding to his already-outstanding contributions to youth work programs. I also thank the members of the Search Committee and Chair Alexandra Dimitroff for their dedicated service to the University. I am pleased to announce the appointment of Associate Vice Chancellor Patricia Arredondo as the new Interim Dean, as of June 15th. As Interim Dean, Dr. Arredondo will have oversight of the School of Continuing Education and be responsible for management and planning, including personnel, programs, space and budget. She will continue to hold the title of Associate Vice Chancellor, charged with facilitating campus-wide continuing education strategic planning, coordination, and decision making. Patricia will also continue to take a leading role in the planning support team for the campus master planning discussions and engage in specific follow-up projects which will unfold from the master plan. I am confident that Patricia will serve as Interim Dean with distinction.
She established and managed an organizational consulting firm in
Boston for fifteen years, and she has a deep appreciation for entrepreneurship,
business collaborations, and innovation. Patricia has demonstrated
her leadership ability both in her former positions as Deputy Vice
President and University Dean of Student Affairs and Associate Vice
President/Senior Advisor for Academic Initiatives at Arizona State
University and as Co-Chair of the UWM Academic and Master Planning
Support Team. She holds an Ed.D. in Counseling Psychology from Boston
University, and she has a national reputation as a scholar of multicultural
counseling and organizational diversity management. As faculty member
in the Educational Psychology Department, and as a member of my
leadership team, Patricia will be well positioned to bridge the
Kenwood and downtown campuses and advance initiatives in continuing
education. Sincerely, Rita Rita Hartung Cheng |
