As Associate Vice Chancellor, Dev Venugopalan has primary responsibilities for:

• Faculty/staff recruitment/retention;
• Promotion/tenure and indefinite appointments;
• Diversity initiatives;
• Faculty sabbaticals;
• Mentoring programs;
• Professional & leadership development programs; and
• New employee recruitment and orientation;

The units of Human Resources, Equity/Diversity Services, the Center for Instructional and Professional Development, Employee Development Program, Learning Technology Center, Student Accessibility Center, and Office of Multicultural Affairs report to him.

Dr. Venugopalan is an Associate Professor of Materials Engineering in the College of Engineering and Applied Science. His research interests are in the area of materials processing and manufacturing. He served as a Department Chair (1996-98) and as an Associate Dean (1998-2004) in CEAS . As Associate Dean, Dr. Venugopalan had administrative oversight responsibilities for instructional budget, technology, program development, review and assessment. He played a major role in the recent ABET accreditation, chairing the College's Accreditation Work Group.
