Visit the First-Year Center of UWM's Student Success Center
Located in Bolton 192, the First-Year Center is the one stop where you can find all the information about valuable resources on campus. The mission of the First-Year Center is to provide quality comprehensive services to new freshmen and transfer students enrolled at UWM.
The Center is also home base to the Campus Ambassadors/Mentors who, during the academic year, will reconvene their orientation groups, meet one-on-one and maintain communication with their first-year students, and assist in the development of targeted first-year programming.
P.A.L.S. is a 6-week experience for incoming first year students to assist in their successful transition into the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Students will meet one hour per week with a team of faculty, staff and peer mentors. This is a pilot program and space is limited to 150 students. Please submit your interest by August 10, 2009. Students who are selected for P.A.L.S. will be notified by August 14, 2009 and given registration instructions. Be sure to see FYI from the FYC, to get a glimpse of students' insights to UWM, written by students (Campus Ambassadors/Mentors) here at UWM. There are many on-line resources available to students at UWM. For example, a Virtual Reference Desk can be found here as can various writing resources, study tips, stress relief strategies, tools for good living, etc. Be sure to check out these helpful web sites.
