Tutoring and Academic Resource CenterThere are many services available to you from the Tutoring and Academic Resource Center (TARC) and from programs across campus that coordinate tutoring with TARC.
Free tutoring is available for more than eighty 100- and 200-level courses, including math, English and large lecture courses. Tutoring is also available to students using Desire 2 Learn (D2L).
Group Tutoring
View a comprehensive listing of undergraduate courses in which you can receive group tutoring. You can also sign up for tutoring at this Web site.
Walk-in Tutoring
Walk-in tutoring is available if you have a quick question. Appointments are not necessary. Check the schedule available and walk in.
Online Tutoring
Online tutoring is available in several subject areas. Using D2L, you can chat with tutors, post questions and review materials. Send an email to tutoring@uwm.edu with your name, e-mail address and course name/number. You will be sent directions on this easy way to work with a tutor from any computer with Internet access.
Study GroupYou may also want to join a study group. There are two study group programs at TARC. If you are interested in studying with others at the same time and place each week, fill out an application. TARC will add you to their database and match your request with other students who have the same course/subject interest.
Teaching Teams Program
New to Access to Success, this program is designed to bring more personal attention to large lecture classes. Undergraduate students currently enrolled in the class are selected as preceptors; they lead study groups and assist the professor. The Teaching Team preceptor can help you gain confidence in working with course material and learn study strategies.
If you have questions or would like further information on these and other programs, please call 414-229-3726 or visit the TARC Web site.
