About the Migration

You've been hearing about it for years - the shut down of UWM's legacy web environment, also known as the "alpha environment." Because of the Alpha environment's use of antiquated technology and increasing support costs, it is time to begin the migration of web content off the Alpha servers.

So what does this mean for you?

Any departmental, school, or college site hosted on the Alphas will need to be migrated to the new web environment. Additionally, all student/faculty/staff personal pages will also need to be migrated.

Not sure if your site is on the Alphas? Go to your site's homepage - does the URL in browser's address bar say www.uwm.edu or www4.uwm.edu? If there's no 4, your site will need to be migrated.

This site has been built to help answer your questions about the migration process, as well as give you the tools you need to ensure that your migration is successful. This site will continue to grow as the migration process progresses - please check it frequently, or sign up for automatic e-mail updates.
