Associate Professor with tenure in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, Iowa State University
Tien is one of the outstanding young software engineering researchers in the United States. At Iowa State, he has built a strong team of PhD students with whom he has published almost 40 papers. He and his students received the ACM SIGSOFT Distinguished Paper Award in 2009 and two other papers were nominated for Distinguished Paper awards at the Automated Software Engineering conference.  His papers have been cited more than 200 times, he has served on three editorial boards, reviewed for eight journals, served on numerous conference program committees and is currently supervising six PhD students.
