Benefits and Resources For UWMAA Chapters
UWM Alumni chapters serve to enrich the alumni experience and foster beneficial relationships in the Milwaukee community. Getting involved in an existing chapter or forming a new alumni chapter offers significant benefits; including:
  • Staying connected with UWM
  • Professional and social networking with fellow alumni
  • Developing key leadership skills for career advancement and building your resume
  • Continuing to learn and grow intellectually through educational opportunities
  • Supporting current UWM students and increasing UWM’s reach to prospective students 
  • Serving UWM’s campus community and contributing to your regional community
  • Spreading Panther Pride and carrying on UWM traditions both on campus and in your region
UWMAA staff will provide the following to all officially recognized chapters; review the online Chapter Toolkit for further information and guidance on how to access these resources.

Resources and Training to Support Chapter Efforts
-Annual strategic planning and reporting support
-Quarterly “Chapter Chats” conference calls on key chapter training topics (such as event planning, member recruitment, scholarship fundraising, etc.) and to share university updates, highlight chapter best practices, and discuss recent questions and concerns
-Leader identification and outreach
-Annual leadership retreats, which provide the opportunity to brainstorm and share ideas with other chapters
-Guidance to grow the skills of volunteer leaders and develop succession plans

Marketing and Communications
-Promotion of chapters in UWMAA print materials, website, and e-news publications
-Chapter leader information on the UWMAA website
-Chapter event promotion on the UWMAA homepage
-Access to the Alumni Directory
-Social media marketing through UWMAA and training in establishing and increasing individual chapter social media reach

Event Support
-Assistance in planning and implementation of programs and events 
-Access, training, and support in using the Alumni Directory for e-mail invitations, event registration and tracking, and outreach to targeted alumni
-Staff assistance and attendance at events/programs as appropriate and/or requested
-UWMAA materials, giveaways, and event supplies as appropriate and/or requested

Financial Assistance
Chapters can request financial assistance from the UWMAA to aid with upcoming chapter events, programming, or other initiatives.

Chapter Leadership Council
Each Chapter President will have a seat on the Chapter Leadership Council and will vote to nominate the Chapter Representative and Chapter Representative Alternate to serve as a voting member of the UWMAA Board of Trustees.  Chapter Leadership Council Representatives will be expected to attend (in person or electronically) the annual Chapter Leader Retreat and participate regularly in the “Chapter Chats” conference calls.
