Chapter Programming Ideas
As you craft your calendar of events, consider a variety of diverse programming to engage your chapter and alumni population. Below is a list of ideas you may consider when planning for your chapter’s activities.  Remember, unique events provide the best way to recruit new alumni and keep current members engaged, so don’t be afraid to get creative.  We also highly encourage UWM Alumni Chapters to get involved in UWM events and UWMAA programming to build on existing success and to share your Panther Pride!

-Celebrate the excellence of UWM alumni at the Alumni Association’s Awards Evening
-Support student scholarships by running or walking in the Panther Prowl
-Cheer on the Brewers at the annual UWM Day at Miller Park
-Stop by to visit or volunteer at UWM Day at State Fair

-Gather a group to attend an Alumni Networking Breakfast or PAAWS (Professional Alumni After Work Social)
-Plan a networking event to grow your chapter; see the Event Planning Guidelines and Resources and contact the UWMAA for support
-Organize a site visit and tour of a chapter member’s company or organization

-Organize a game watching party in your area to support UWM teams and Panther Athletics
-Attend a UWM sporting event in Milwaukee or when the Panthers come to your area

-Choose a local charity and donate your time together as a chapter-building activity
-Contribute to campus volunteerism by getting involved at the UWM Center for Community-Based Learning, Leadership, and Research (CCBLLR)
-Mentor a UWM student in the Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) - nurture the leadership identity of UWM students during 6 visits; contact Demetria Anderson for more information
-Participate in a LEAD-MKE mini-retreat - half-day experiences empower teams to explore leadership and group dynamics; contact Cindy Petrites at the Alumni Association to request funding to cover costs associated with the retreat
-Support UWM’s Share the Earth initiative, a series of earth-friendly events at the UWM Union

-Plan a cook out, a trip to a local zoo, or day at the park

-Invite a guest speaker or panel to present on a topic of interest to the chapter
-Organize a book club
-Attend a presentation at UWM’s Distinguished Lecture Series
-Plan a campus tour and see how UWM has changed
-Take a course together through UWM’s School of Continuing Education

-Grow the Panther family – volunteer with the Alumni Ambassador Program

-Support UWM’s Peck School of the Arts by attending an upcoming event
-Plan a trip to the UWM Union Art Gallery
-Celebrate cultural events in your local community

-Host welcome to the area events for recent UWM grads

-Organize a networking event for current students to meet chapter members
-Invite students to your workplace for an individual job shadow or participate in the UWMAA’s Shadow a Panther Program
-Plan a career-related workshop for current students
-Volunteer at a Career Development Center mock interview day
-Host students at a Dinner with a Pack of Panthers
