Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to pay dues to be a member of the UWM Alumni Association?
No. We are a dues-free organization, and all UWM graduates automatically are members of the UWM Alumni Association.

How do I obtain a copy of my academic transcript?
Find out how to request your transcript on-line, by mail or in person.

I just graduated. When will I receive my diploma? What will it look like?
Approximately eight to ten weeks after commencement, your diploma and a copy of your final transcript will be mailed to your mailing address. If you need a replacement or additional diploma, you may obtain a form to receive a diploma (and pay a required $35 fee) by contacting the Department of Enrollment Services at 414-229-6571 or stop by Mellencamp Hall, room 290 for further information.

How do I update my address with the Alumni Association?
Change your contact information using the online form.

How can I find a former classmate?
Contact the UWM Alumni Association, and we’ll make the contact for you. While it is our policy to keep the address/phone/e-mail of our alumni confidential, we do like to help alumni stay in touch.

What can I do to mentor current UWM students?
PantherNet is a network of UWM alumni and other professionals willing to contribute information and time to UWM students or alumni exploring career and graduate school options. This is not a job placement service, and participants are not expected to offer employment opportunities.

If you're a UWM alum and a professional who's interested in building stronger ties with the University, then the Career Development Center and  the Sheldon B. Lubar School of Business, Career Services, and College of Engineering and Applied Science Career Services invite you to join the PantherNet Program.

As a PantherNet volunteer, you have an opportunity to make a personal contribution to the professional growth of UWM students and alumni. The goals and needs of the program participants will vary, but all will be seeking your expertise on specific career areas. For example, a student may want advice in declaring a major or developing the skills he/she needs for your field. Or an alumnus may want pointers on job search strategies specific to your field. Your level of participation is totally up to you.

Before registering for the program, you must contact Sue Martin at for a username and password. Please go to the Panther Jobs web site to gain access to the program. Once you've registered, your information will be added to an online database. Students and alumni can search the database by using the criteria that you supply. You may enter the PantherNet Program to update your information at any time.

I don't live in Milwaukee. Can I still be involved in the UWM Alumni Association?
Absolutely! There are many ways to stay involved. They include taking advantage of the benefits we offer you, whether that be loan consolidation, travel or discounts; participating in the Panther Advocates; or by joining or starting a constituent alumni association or regional UWM alumni chapter.

What can I do to support UWM's legislative initiatives?
We'd love to have all UWM alums who live in Wisconsin be part of the Panther Advocates, a grassroots advocacy coalition of alumni who are concerned about the future of higher education at UWM. We ask that you contact your legislators twice a year, either by phone, e-mail, letter or in person, and ask them to consider the University's position on an issue.

How can I make a contribution to UWM?
Your gifts to UWM directly benefit our students, faculty and academic and other programs. To learn how you can help, visit the UWM Development Office's secure server at www.development.uwm.edu.

Does the Alumni Association offer any awards or scholarships?
You bet. Click on Alumni Association awards/scholarships for complete details.
