About Us

The mission of the Black Cultural Center (BCC) at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) is to create a supportive environment for the University's descendants of the African diaspora and encourage/ facilitate their academic success.

Accordingly, the Black Cultural Center is a critical component of the University's efforts to recruit and retain students of African descent. Working in conjunction with the other campus offices and departments, the Black Cultural Center designs and implements social, cultural, and academic programming designed to enhance the cultural competency of the campus and greater Milwaukee community.

The Black Cultural Center

The Black Cultural Center serves as a liaison to the African American community. We partner with the UW-System, community organizations, and businesses to provide needed resources and academic programming throughout the year.

Located in Room 176 of Bolton Hall, the Black Cultural Center provides student access to computers and a study/ meeting area. Additionally, the Black Cultural Center has a Black cultural resource library for the community’s use.
