Areas of Expertise
Dr. Brown specializes in auditing but has also taught Principles of Accounting and Managerial Accounting.  Her research interests include behavioral and archival research in corporate governance (with an emphasis on audit committees), audit and auditor quality, and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board's (PCAOB) inspection process.

Professional Activities

Dr. Brown is a member of the American Accounting Association (AAA), the Auditing Section of the AAA, the KPMG Foundation: Ph.D. Project, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).  

Dr. Brown has over 20 years of combined practical experience in finance, accounting and auditing in both the private and the governmental sectors.  She has held positions at American Express Corporation, NationsBank (now Bank of America), The State of Florida Department of Financial Services, and Hass, Diaz and Co. (now Rachlin, LLP).  She was also an independent auditor for four years prior to joining academia full time. 

Dr. Brown served as president of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA), Palm Beach Chapter, in 2006-2007.
