Areas of Expertise
Dr. Fischer’s areas of specialization include financial reporting issues with an emphasis on leasing, business and combinations, segment reporting, capital budgeting, and deferred compensation.
Professional Activities
Dr. Fischer has developed a customized course, “Finance for Non-Financial Managers,” for members of the management team of a local company. He has also conducted a study on accounting practices for deferred compensation plans and factors influencing adoption of deferred compensation plans for another Milwaukee company. He is currently involved in an undergraduate teaching improvement project to develop accounting critical thinking skills. Dr. Fischer is a member of the American Accounting Association, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
