Dr. Goranova teaches courses in strategic management at the graduate and undergraduate level. Her research focuses on corporate strategy and corporate governance. She has examined how ownership portfolios affect mergers and acquisitions outcomes, as well as the interrelationship between corporate governance, executive compensation and corporate diversification. Her research has been published in the Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Perspectives, Journal of Business Research, Academy of Management Proceedings, and Organization Science.

Dr. Goranova is member of the Strategic Management Society, the Academy of Management, and the International Association for Chinese Management Research. She has received Distinguished Paper Award, as well as Outstanding Reviewer Award from the Academy of Management, Business Policy and Strategy Division. Prior to joining academia she has worked for number of years as chief accountant for SIAD BG unit of Praxair. She has also worked for management and accounting company TMF Group and for FP Bank.
