Areas of Expertise
Dr. Kumar specializes in business value of information technology and the impact of emerging technologies.  He teaches courses in Management Information Systems and System Analysis and Design.  Dr. Kumar’s current research looks at business value of information sharing between firms, open source software development and adoption, and service oriented architecture.

Professional Activities
Dr. Kumar has presented his research at premier research conferences including the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS), Conference on Information Systems and Technology (CIST), and Workshop on Information Systems and Economics (WISE).  His research was awarded the Best Doctoral Student Paper award at CIST 2007 and was nominated for the Best Paper Award at ICIS 2007 and HICSS (Hawaii Conference on Systems Science) 2007. Dr. Kumar has served as a reviewer for Information Systems Research, The DATABASE for Advances in Information Systems and Journal of Database Management. Before starting his academic career, he worked as a business consultant with Andersen Business Consulting.
