Areas of Expertise
Dr. Mone’s research interests include performance management, goal-setting, leadership, creating positive organizational cultures, organizational decline, downsizing, retrenchment and turnaround, and research methods. He teaches courses in Organizational Behavior, Human Resources Management (strategic and international), and Behavioral Research Methods. He also teaches modules in team building, communication, and legal compliance in employment decisions.

Professional Activities
Dr. Mone has published over 30 scholarly articles and book chapters, and served two terms on the editorial board of Academy of Management Review. He currently serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Management Inquiry and Journal of Leadership and Organizational Studies. Dr. Mone consults for organizations in the areas of performance management (e.g., 360-degree feedback), executive coaching, and organizational structure and strategy, and serves as an expert witness in human resources and employment law issues. In addition to receiving both the Izzet Sahin Research Award and a Teaching Excellence Award from the School’s Business Advisory Council, Dr. Mone received an award for teaching excellence from the Alumni Association at Washington State University. Prior to joining UWM, he worked for 10 years in private industry with responsibilities for food and beverage management, and opening and managing new hotels.
