Areas of Expertise
Dr. Zhao's research interests are in the areas of data mining and healthcare informatics. His current research focuses on tagging-enhanced recommendation, location-sensitive recommendation, financial applications of social media mining, and mobile healthcare. He teaches courses in object-oriented programming and database management.
Professional Activities

Dr. Zhao has published in such journals as Journal of Management Information Systems, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Communications of the ACM, ACM Transactions on Management Information Systems,IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, IEEE Transactions of Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, Information Systems, Data and Knowledge Engineering, and Journal of Database Management. He is the recipient of several research awards in the Lubar School of Business and the UWM Graduate School. His work has been funded by the National Science Foundation. He served as co-chair of the Workshop on Information Technologies and Systems in 2009 and co-chair of the INFORMS Workshop on Data Mining and Health Informatics in 2010. He serves on the editorial review board of the Journal of Database Management.
