Associate Director for Supply Chain Management Institute

The Lubar School of Business provides world-class education, research and service and acts as a catalyst for the education of tomorrow’s business leaders through its industry initiatives and partnerships. The newly-created Supply Chain Management Institute is dedicated to the development of insights, strategies and practical solutions to real-world challenges and opportunities facing decisions maker’s managing the end-to-end supply chain in the manufacturing and service sectors.The Associate Director will provide operational leadership, assistance with applied research projects, student–employer interactions, classroom teaching, and conference and event management. Interaction with the executive programs office, and student career services programs/ events may be required as needed.

Position Type:51% Teaching / 49% Administration,

Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibility for this position will be to manage the day-to-day operations of the Supply Chain Management Institute

  • Assist in monitoring budget and maintaining financial and administrative records

  • Develop and conduct marketing and promotional activities to maintain and expand the industrial and organizational base

  • Be familiar with the types of projects and executive programs that are appropriate for the Institute mission and resources

  • Course teaching load of 4 supply chain courses per academic year.

  • Support the Institute Director by working with local industry to solicit and coordinate projects for potential support

  • Organize and coordinate the Institute’s open enrollment and custom executive programs with close coordination with the Executive Programs Office.

  • Support the Director of the Supply Chain Management Institute as required

  • Supervise student projects with industry as needed.

Examples of activities that will be performed include arranging Corporate Advisory Council meetings, supply chain programs and the Institute’s research meetings; reporting, reconciling and monitoring Institute expenditures; Creating content and supervising maintenance of the Institute’s Website.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant business or engineering field

  • Outstanding skills in written and oral communication and time management

  • Minimum 5-10 years of demonstrated industrial experience in corporate supply chain functions

  • Experience monitoring budget and maintaining financial records

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Ability to teach undergraduate supply chain courses

  • Ability to interact with student organizations and career placement services staff

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with local industry (e.g., manufacturing, transportation, water, healthcare, technology)

  • Professional management experience in an industrial or relevant institutional setting

  • Outstanding teaching skills and experience
