UWM School of Business Administration Receives Reaffirmation of AACSB Accreditation
MILWAUKEE - The School of Business Administration at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has achieved reaffirmation of its undergraduate, master's and doctoral degree programs by recent action of the Board of Directors of the AACSB-International (the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). The official announcement was made in April 2003.
According to UWM Business School Dean V. Kanti Prasad, "AACSB is the gold standard for business accreditation in the world, and the fact that the School has once again completed a reaccreditation study with flying colors speaks to the ongoing commitment to quality of our faculty, staff, and students. Only 25 percent of the business schools in the U.S. are able to attain the quality level required to achieve AACSB accreditation. We are proud to be a member of this elite group of academic institutions."
To achieve AACSB International accreditation, business programs must satisfy the expectations of a wide range of quality standards (all of which are mission linked) relating to curriculum, faculty resources, admissions, degree requirements, library and computer facilities, financial resources, and intellectual climate.
During the reaccreditation process, the UWM School of Business was visited and evaluated by a team consisting of business school deans and an individual from the business community, who applied AACSB International accreditation standards that are widely accepted and adopted by the educational and business communities.
AACSB International is a not-for-profit organization consisting of more than 800 educational organizations and corporations devoted to the promotion and improvement of higher education in business administration and management. Only 454 colleges and universities world-wide are accredited by AACSB International.
Established in 1966, the UWM Business School's undergraduate and graduate programs have been accredited by AACSB for over thirty years. In addition to academic excellence, the School is known for its cutting-edge research, relevant executive education, and use of the latest instructional technology in the classroom.
Seventy-eight full-time professors and instructional staff teach in a comprehensive curriculum: the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with six majors; the Master of Business Administration (MBA); the Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA); the Master of Science (MS) in Management, with twelve areas of concentration; and a PhD in Management Science with five major fields.
