M&I Marshall & Ilsley Center for Business Ethics Established
The M&I Marshall & Ilsley Center for Business Ethics has been established at the Sheldon B. Lubar School of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The center was made possible by a $1 million gift from the Marshall & Ilsley Corporation Foundation.
In making the gift, Dennis J. Kuester, Chairman & CEO of Marshall & Ilsley Corporation and a 1966 graduate of the Lubar School of Business said, “The study and understanding of business ethics is critical to the success of our market-driven economy.”
The M&I Marshall & Ilsley Center for Business Ethics will focus on business ethics as a critical component of management education. The center’s mission will be to provide students with an educational and experiential framework that will engage them in serious thought about issues of ethics, and will instill in them ethical ideals that they can apply as business leaders and professionals.
The Center will support the enhancement of the business curriculum, faculty development grants, an M&I Marshall & Ilsley Executive-in-Residence in Business Ethics, visiting scholars in ethics and leadership, and a new lecture series for students – Great Journeys: An Inspirational Series. The Great Journeys series will feature “role model” business leaders speaking from their life and career experiences, emphasizing the values of business integrity, ethics, and social responsibility.
“The need for raising the ethical awareness of business students and providing them with the framework within which to make appropriate decisions in today’s business society is clear,” stated Prasad. “The M&I Marshall & Ilsley Center for Business Ethics will have a great impact on the future managers and business executives who are educated in our classrooms and go on to successful careers in Wisconsin and beyond.”
