Insights from a Reformed White Collar Criminal

Walter Pavlo, a nationally recognized speaker whose unique perspective on business ethics provides a candid look at the motivations, actions, and consequences of a white collar crime, will be featured in the Corporate Ethics Speaker Series, sponsored by the M&I Marshall & Ilsley Center for Business Ethics at UWM’s Lubar School of Business.

The event takes place on Thursday, February 14, 2008, from 12 noon-1:30 p.m. at the Pfister Hotel.

Pavlo’s views stem from his involvement in a white collar crime when he was a senior manager at MCI Telecommunications and defrauded seven customers of $6 million over a six month period. In January 2001, in cooperation with the federal government, Mr. Pavlo pled guilty to wire fraud and money laundering, and served two years in prison.

The M&I Marshall & Ilsley Center for Business Ethics produces the Corporate Ethics Speaker Series to engage students, alumni, and the business community in thought-provoking dialogue about ethical issues in business.
