Recruitment Begins for New Investment Management Certificate
Milwaukee, April 17, 2009 – The Sheldon B. Lubar School of Business has begun student recruitment for a new certificate program in Investment Management. The goal of the new program, according to business school Dean V. Kanti Prasad, is to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to actively manage a balanced (fixed income and equity) investment fund. The applied curriculum will include a professional internship during the last summer of the program.
"There is a rich tradition of investment management in Southeast Wisconsin," said Prasad. "The region has spawned a great number of highly successful and nationally respected mutual funds and investment management firms. As a result, there is a growing demand for graduates who understand complex financial tools and techniques. We're eager to offer this new certificate program to best prepare our students to meet that demand."
The program will prime students for careers in mutual fund companies, bank trust departments, money management firms, and hedge fund companies. Admission will be granted on a competitive basis, with 15 seats available each year.
