New Venture Business Plan Competition Launches
Milwaukee, August 18, 2009 – Registration for this year’s New Venture Business Competition opens on August 24 for UWM students and recent alumni interested in testing out their business ideas. The competition is designed to spur entrepreneurial spirit, promote practical business skills, and encourage the creation of new, for-profit ventures.
Through a series of workshops and one-on-one interaction with competition advisors, students learn how to take their ideas from concept to commercialization, ultimately presenting their business plan to a panel of judges that includes venture capitalists and successful entrepreneurs.
“Innovation is the key to our economic future,” said Lubar Dean Tim Smunt. “This competition is an excellent opportunity for students to apply their knowledge and delve into the process of developing a blueprint for a viable business.”
In addition, the contest offers significant cash prizes totaling $12,000 that can be used to further the successful commercialization of the winners’ ideas.
The competition is sponsored by the Lubar School of Business and made possible by private support from La Macchia Enterprises, the parent company of Mark Travel and Trisept Solutions.
