Sheldon Lubar Receives 2012 Bravo! Entrepreneur Lifetime Achievement Award
Lubar School of Business benefactor Sheldon B. Lubar, Founder and Chairman of Lubar & Co., Inc., has received the 2012 Bravo! Entrepreneur Lifetime Achievement Award from BizTimes Media.
Mr. Lubar was honored for making “a significant positive impact on his community, his state and his country as an entrepreneur, a banker, a venture capitalist, an investor, a director, a public servant and a philanthropist. Lubar, his wife, Marianne, and their family continue to help move Milwaukee forward.”
Lubar & Co. provides capital and expert strategic guidance to the companies it acquires through a unique model of “Professional Ownership.” Mr. Lubar is a director of several public companies, including Crosstex Energy, Star Gas, Approach Resources, and Hallador Energy as well as other private companies. During his career, he has held governmental appointments under three U.S. Presidents. A strong proponent of education, Mr. Lubar served as a member of the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System and as its president. In 1991, he served as co-chairman of the Governor’s Conference on Small Business. He was also trustee and acting chairman of the State of Wisconsin Investment Board and president of the Milwaukee Art Museum.
