Fulbright Specialist Timothy Haas Sharing Expertise on Sustainable Development
Associate Professor of Business Statistics Timothy C. Haas, who is designated as a Fulbright Specialist, will share his expertise in sustainable development at Fulbright-sponsored workshops in France later this spring.
His workshops will focus on the environmental sustainability of manufacturing companies, and how companies can help protect biodiversity. He will also overview carbon footprint spreadsheets offered by the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol, the Sustainability Indicators toolkit for manufacturing companies offered by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and two sustainability tools from SAS – the Sustainability Reporting tool, and the Energy and Emissions Management tool.
Dr. Haas’ interest in the environment and sustainable manufacturing brings together his research on finding optimal strategies for managing political-ecological systems, his engineering background, and his experience in teaching statistical tools for improving the quality of manufacturing processes.
In addition to his focus on ecosystem management, Dr. Haas specializes in multivariate statistics, spatial statistics, decision making using probabilistic networks, computer intensive statistical methods, and time series. He authored the book, “Improving Natural Resource Management: Ecological and Political Models” (2011, Wiley). He holds his Ph.D. in statistics from Colorado State University.
