Timothy L. Smunt, Dean of the Sheldon B. Lubar School of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, has been named a Fellow of the Decision Sciences Institute (DSI). DSI is an international, cross-disciplinary professional organization of academicians and practitioners focused on the application of quantitative and behavioral methods to decision making.

The prestigious designation of Fellow is awarded to individuals with outstanding contributions to the field of decision sciences and to the Institute.

“This is fitting recognition of the high caliber of Tim Smunt’s body of work in decision sciences,” said UWM Chancellor Michael R. Lovell. “The university and the region truly benefit from the level of scholarship and leadership Tim provides, both as a researcher and as Dean of the Lubar School of Business.”

Dr. Smunt, Dean of the Lubar School and a professor specializing in operations management since August 2009, was recognized for his influential work in the field. His research focuses on strategic planning for manufacturing and service firms, supply chain management, health care information systems and operations, business process management, and international operations.

He earned his doctorate in business administration from Indiana University, an MBA from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and a BS in industrial management from Purdue University.
