Management Information Systems
With Management Information Systems (MIS) major, students are provided with the knowledge needed to develop creative and effective information technology (IT) solutions, based on a thorough comprehension of business problems and opportunities. MIS students will develop a strong technical foundation in contemporary approaches to computer information systems development-which includes planning, analysis, design, programming, operations maintenance and support-using state-of-the-art technologies, tools and techniques. In addition, there is an emphasis on the communication skills critical to client understanding and satisfaction.

Admission to the MajorStudents are eligible to be admitted to their major when the following requirements have been completed:

  • Attain Junior standing (56 credits)
  • Satisfy English Composition Requirement (complete the English sequence with a “C” or better in English 102 or place high enough on the English Placement Test)
  • Satisfy Math Competency (complete the math sequence with a grade of “C” or better in Math 105 or place high enough on the Math Placement Test)
  • Complete the six Business Foundation courses (with a cumulative gpa of 2.00 or above)
  • Obtain a cumulative gpa of 2.50 or above in ALL coursework, including transfer coursework
  • Students must fill out the pink Admission to the Major form (available in the Undergraduate Student Services office, BUS N297)
