The Lubar School of Business offers a General Business Minor to provide professional development for students from all majors. As a Business Minor, you'll develop the knowledge and skills necessary for effective leadership in your chosen profession.
The 29-credit General Business Minor examines many aspects of business, including accounting, finance, marketing, management, information systems, and economics to help you graduate with the business knowledge you'll need in today's marketplace.

Other RequirementsAt least 15 credits for the General Business Minor must be completed at UWM. In order to have the General Business Minor posted on your transcript; you must also complete all 29 credits with an overall grade point average of at least 2.25.
Business Minor FAQ How do I declare a General Business Minor? There are two easy ways to declare the minor: (1) by clicking on the above "Declare Now" button or (2) by visiting the Lubar School's Undergraduate Student Services Office, Lubar Hall N297, (414) 229-5271.
How long does it take to complete the Business Minor? Most students spread the Business Minor courses out over their academic career. The program is flexible enough to accommodate what fits best with your schedule. Our advisors would be happy to talk with you about this.
Can I start the Business Minor at any time in my college career? Yes, you may begin the program at any time as an undergraduate student.
Are any of the classes offered in the Summer term? Yes, courses in the Business Minor are offered during all terms.
Is it possible to declare a Business Major after I've started as a Business Minor? In most cases, coursework completed as part of the Business Minor will apply toward a Business Major if you change your major declaration to the Lubar School of Business. Speak with a Lubar academic advisor to help you weigh your options and create the best plan for your individual needs.
Does it cost extra to take the courses online? The online sections of these courses have an additional fee of $300 per 3-credit course. Business courses also have a differential tuition fee of $61.80 per 3-credit course, whether offered online or in person. Students in the Business Minor will have priority registration for all online classes.
Post Baccalaureate General Business Minor:Students will be allowed to take no more than 6 credits to complete the Post Baccalaureate General Business Minor. A Minimum of 3 post baccalaureate credits must be taken at UWM. In order to have the Post Baccalaureate General Business Minor posted on your transcript, the following gpa requirements must be met:
- minimum overall gpa of 2.25 on all General Business Minor courses,
- a minimum UWM post baccalaureate gpa of 2.00
NOTE: If you are completing this minor as part of degree requirements in another school/college, your course grade minimums may vary from those required by the School of Business. Please check with your assigned academic advisor regarding grade requirements.
