Student Resources
Undergraduate and graduate business students are welcome to use the services of the Career Services Center. Greg Krejci, Career Services Director; Diane Kavalauskas, Senior Career Advisor; and Kelly Drout, Career Advisor are available on an appointment basis to help you with your career-related needs.
On Campus Interviews Interview scheduling and resume referrals for business students are handled over the web through a system called
PantherJOBS. Through this system, students can post resumes on-line for employer review and schedule interview times via the web 24 hours a day.
You can sign up for
PantherJOBS in the Career Services Center, N203. There is a one-time registration fee of $15 for current students and $20/semester for alumni. Upon registration, you will be given a personal log-in and password.
InternshipsInternships provide students with the opportunity to gain valuable practical experience in their chosen field of study while they are enrolled at UWM. A wide variety of internship opportunities are available to business students. These include full-time summer positions and part-time positions available throughout the year. Employers tend to be flexible and are willing to work around a student's class schedule.
College CreditThe internship may also qualify for college credit. Information about applying for internship credit can be obtained in the Career Services Center office.
How to RegisterStudents seeking an internship should stop by the Career Services Center to drop off a completed
Data Sheet (The Data Sheets are also available in the Career Services Center) and sign-up for
PantherJOBS. There is a one-time registration fee of $15 for
PantherJOBS; you can re-activate your account each semester until you graduate at no additional charge. You can also schedule an appointment to have your resume critiqued or for general career advising.
When to ApplyStudents are generally qualified for internship opportunities after completing one or more courses in their major field of study. Employers often prefer to hire students for internships who are several semesters from graduation. Since it sometimes takes some time to find an internship, you should register in the Career Services Center well before you want to do an internship. You can schedule an appointment to discuss your options and to help decide the best time for applying for an internship.
Resources for Finding InternshipsStudents should use a variety of means to find an internship. Besides registering in the Career Services Center, students can check the
Job Posting Board on-line or outside the School of Business Career Services Center, talk to relatives and friends.
Career FairsEach year, Career Fairs are held at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The Career Fairs offer students the opportunity to meet with employers from various industries and make contacts for possible future employment. Although not all of the Career Fairs are sponsored by the Career Services Center, they are posted on the
Career Services Center Calendar for your convenience.
Job PostingsFor employers who do not interview on campus, the Career Services Center maintains a
Job Postings Board that alerts business students to full-time and part-time employment opportunities. The postings contain a brief description of the position, along with training and experience requirements and application procedures. The Job Postings Board is centrally located in Lubar Hall and is successfully utilized by employers specifically seeking to hire business students or recent graduates.
WorkshopsSeveral workshops are offered each semester by the Career Services Center. The listing of current workshops can be found on the
Career Services Center Calendar.
Resume workshops give an overview of what to include on your resume. Interviewing workshops will include guidelines on attending a Career Fair.
Sign-up sheets for these workshops are available in the Career Services Center. We ask that students register for the workshops prior to attending. Stop by the Career Services Center in Lubar Hall N203, call (414) 229-5445, or email:

Company Presentations Many companies offer information sessions the evening before their scheduled on-campus interviews. If you are scheduled for an interview with a company, it is strongly recommended that you attend their information session. These presentations enable a company to provide more information than could be presented during a 30-minute interview and enable the interviewer to concentrate on the candidate during the actual interview the next day. Attending a company's presentation shows your interest in the company.
To check if a company is hosting an information session before on-campus interviews, you can do the following:
1. Check the calendar in PantherJOBS
2. Check the Employer's page in PantherJOBS under Information Sessions.
