Student Investment Club
Student Investment Club (SIC) seeks to provide each member with a broad understanding of the financial industry, as well as the opportunity for interested students to gain valuable experience by conducting actual investment research. Regardless if the student is curious about investing in the stock market or seeking to master their research methodology, SIC invites students from all backgrounds and majors to attend our weekly meetings.

Industry leaders from such firms as Wells Fargo, R.W. Baird, and BMO Harris Bank attend our meetings to discussion certain topics in the investment world. Previous meeting topics include: Planning for retirement, graduate school, career advice, trading options, research techniques, and portfolio management. Our meetings are Tuesday night at 8:15PM; free pizza and soda is available.

SIC members actively manage a real stock portfolio, and members are encouraged to attend Monday night portfolio meetings in the finance lab. The Nicholas Finance Lab utilizes the Bloomberg and FactSet software programs, which are used by professionals at billion dollar investment firms and hedge funds on Wall Street. Interested and devoted members have the rare opportunity to discuss and analyze investments in the same atmosphere that a professional investor would. Portfolio meetings are Monday nights at a time TBD.

Social events for the year include trips by SIC to local investment firms in downtown Milwaukee, as well as the Federal Reserve, Chicago Board of Trade, and the Chicago Board of Options Exchange in downtown Chicago. Additionally our members travel to Brewers games, take an annual tour of the local Breweries, and partake in various team building events.
