Florence Vatan
Florence Vatan is Assistant Professor of French, Italian and Comparative Literature at UWM. She is author of the book Robert Musil et la question anthropologique (Man as a Question: Robert Musil's Anthropology) (Presses universitaires de France, 2000) and has articles in Austriaca, Nineteenth-Century French Studies, and The French Review. Her research at the Center explores Flaubert's and Baudelaire's critical dialogue with medicine, focussing especially on the ways in which medicine contributed to the elaboration of their aesthetics and their quest for artistic autonomy. She is currently finishing a book on this topic.
