John Blum is Editor and Associate Director for Publications at the Center, where he brings years of professional writing, editing, and development experience to the position. Before coming to the Center, John oversaw the production of $1 million worth of annual grant proposals for the Hunger Task Force. He has also spent a number of years in the corporate world, both managing and writing technical, marketing, usability, and web-based projects for major institutions such as Johnson Controls, U.S. Bank, Metavante, and Visa.
John received his M.A. from UWM in English literature and has taught a variety of English composition, literature, media, and technical writing courses for UWM, Mount Mary College, Cardinal Stritch University, and the Milwaukee School of Engineering. In those nebulous realms of the freelancer, he has written on arts and culture for Milwaukee Magazine and Art Muscle, has written marketing materials for a German art fair, has appeared on stage with Theatre X, and has published a series of postcards of iconic Milwaukee celebrities.
