Who should attend a career day/job fair? EVERYONE! Whether you are an undecided freshman, a junior looking for an internship, or a senior close to graduation you can benefit from attending one of these events.

  • Speak with representatives from a variety of fields including business, technology, healthcare, government, social services, and more.
  • Gather first-hand information about the responsibilities/tasks of various careers and the skills employers are looking for.
  • Learn what career opportunities are available with different majors.
  • Discover internships, co-ops, part-time jobs and full-time employment.
  • Practice speaking professionally and expand your career network.

Preparing for Career Days/Job Fairs

At UWM and in the community you can find these events held by academic departments, professional associations, companies, and non-profit organizations. Some of these events may be free to attend where as others may charge a fee. If the fee is out of your budget consider asking if you attend for free or at a reduced rate if you volunteer to assist at the event, i.e. pass out materials, staff the registration table, etc.
